Initialize Kiosk Admin Configuration

Kiosk Admin Login

To use the Kiosk Admin application, open your web browser and navigate to https://<adapter_hub_machine_name_or_ip_addr>:10005

Warning

To provide the highest possible security for the Kiosk Admin web site, Kiosk Services are secured using SSL/TLS with a generated certificate, as explained in Securing the Communication between Kiosk Applications.

When first browsing to the Kiosk Admin application, you will be presented with a message that the site is not secure:

//

The certificate used for secure communication with Kiosk Services is automatically created when the services are deployed. Your browser will not automatically trust this certificate. You must get the certificate and install it on each local computer that will be running Kiosk Administrator.

Proceed to Kiosk Admin using the link and follow the steps below.

Warning

If using a combined UIP + Adapter Hub Machine, you may not see a Proceed link as shown above due to HSTS restrictions. See Securing the Communication between Kiosk Applications for details on proceeding.

CA Certificate

The certificate used for Kiosk Admin is automatically created by an internal Certificate Authority. You can download the Certificate Authority "NEC Kiosk Root CA" in Kiosk Admin on the Global Configuration > Connection Settings page or by downloading it directly using the tips below.

//

To configure your browser to trust this certificate, download and install the "NEC Kiosk Root CA" to the Local Machine > Trusted Root Certification Authorities:

// // //

After installing the CA Certificate, you may need to restart your browser.

Tips on accessing the Certificate Authority (CA)

  • Use the IP Address of the adapter hub instead of the DNS name when accessing Kiosk Admin.
    • If the Adapter Hub Template is configured with the IP Address, browsing to the IP address should allow you to proceed (e.g. - https://172.0.1.100:10005). You can then download the Certificate Authority (CA) file from Global Configuration > Connection Settings
  • Get the Certificate Authority file using a command-line tool ignoring the TLS errors:
curl --insecure -OJ <https://kiosk-hub.company.com:10005/getca>
wget --no-check-certificate --content-disposition <https://kiosk-hub.company.com:10005/getca>

Sign In

After browsing to the Kiosk Admin application, you will be then redirected to the login page. Enter your Username and Password and click Sign In.

If you put in the wrong password when signing in more than five times in a row, your account will be locked out for 30 minutes. Contact your UIP Administrator to reset your password in this case.

First Sign In

If this is the first time signing in with the account (or if your password was changed by the UIP Administrator), you will be prompted to change the password set by the UIP Administrator:

//

When changing your password, the last five passwords set for your account may not be used.

If  MFA is enabled for the account, you will additionally be prompted to configure MFA (the first time) and then enter a Verification Code on subsequent log in attempts:

//

License

After a fresh deployment of Kiosk Services, you will need to configure the Kiosk Admin with a license token from UIP.

Using an Administrator login account, log in to Kiosk Admin and go to the License page. Follow the on-screen instructions to get a license token from UIP to license Kiosk Server.

If the UIP platform does not have the necessary licenses, UIP configuration files may fail to load and necessary functionality will be missing from the integration.

Note: If the license file is changed in the UNIVERGE Integration Platform, for example, the license counts are increased for the number of Kiosk Clients allowed to login, the steps for importing a license token must be performed again to bring in the new license changes into the Kiosk Server. If this step us not done, the old license counts will continue to be used.

//

Check UIP License

In order for the Kiosk Client to communicate with different applications, it must be integrated to a UIP that contains enough licenses to support the number of workflows and triggers needed to perform these functions. The Kiosk Hotel Platform (WFSYSTEM) will ship with the required license count for the base Kiosk Client feature set.

Checking the number of licenses available in the UIP can be done by logging into UIP and navigating to the Administration > License menu.
